The Month of Libra, 2006

By Sharita Star

The Cardinal Sun Sign Libra leads us into the fall season as we celebrate the Autumn Equinox, September 23rd at 12:03am, EST. Nature and beauty admirer Venus rules the 7th sign on the Zodiac wheel, through the element of Air. Symbolized by the Scales, Libra represents justice with harmony being their ultimate goal.

Love is no stranger to a Libra as they seek relationships on every level, yearning for the marriage of spirit and matter. Adept at leadership, Libras see both sides of any situation, are tactical decision-makers, yet at times are slightly wishy-washy. Being they deeply understand perfection and balance, Libra natives typically have some of the most tasteful homes.

This balanced sign carries a strong sense of idealism like their Venus ruled Zodiac “cousin” Taurus. Similarly they both admire nature and beauty, while Taurus executes their qualities through a fixed feminine earthen energy that is patient and steadfast. With the need to lead, masculine airy Libra circulates their energy by finding places to adjust, negotiate and compare with their diplomatic, helpful and friendly manners.

At worst, Libras fall to vanity, insincerity, and co-dependency. Drama easily influences them, easily taking over the entire persona. By cultivating firmness, decisiveness and consistency they can find a balance for their acute mental energies. Libras can deal with intellectual intensities that the arts, meditation, and music gently ease; all making marvelous outlets for them so those leadership goals they are here to achieve can be fulfilled.

No matter what sun sign we are personally guided by, Libra energy touches each and every one of us in our individual birth charts. Your rising sign or ascendant will determine which house in your chart Libra affects. This house is where you’ll have an extra boost of harmony as the sun and inner planets pass through this area of your life over the next few weeks.

This month we see Venus and Mercury moving respectively into Libra and Scorpio, as the weeks to follow after October 1st mark the countdown to Election Day here in the United States. Venus seeks to bring ultimate harmony and dignity to the collective while communications and mental activities over this time will be probing, critical and the potential for secrets is high. Always in perfect timing for our pre-election debates, the Sun’s transit through Libra urges us to see both sides of the political issues at hand.

The Full Moon in Aries on October 6th marks an easy time to see personalities be forceful and independent, while at worst restlessness and militant attitudes can be displayed. Look to the house that Aries rules in an individual birth chart to see where one will see an extra boost of enthusiasm, or possible fanaticism about that area of the life. The collective energy at this time can be very powerful, but certainly watch out for those ego trips!

After our two-week period of reflection, our New Moon in Libra graces us upon the 21st- 22nd. As with any month, now is the time to put forth in motion all those ideas and initiations one has been working on that they wish to have positive and successful long-term outcomes with. This is the most auspicious time of the month for growth when we abide to the astrological laws, as the moon is gathering light once more until it peaks again when it becomes full.

May we seek to understand while bringing balance and sincerity to others throughout the month ahead.
